From Symphony Space Theatre in New York City comes the latest COMEDY CENTRAL original stand-up special featuring the one and only John Oliver. He hopped the pond from England to join the cast of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and now viewers can catch their favorite Redcoat in his first-ever COMEDY CENTRAL original stand-up special! Oliver plunges into hilarious political observations as he explains the polite way to invade a country and take slaves, how every American owes him a cup of tea and his failure to become a professional athlete after letting it all out on the track! This is an hour of original stand-up comedy viewers won’t want to miss!
John Oliver was born and raised in England, in the year of punk, 1977. His passport lists his occupation as “comedian” and as everyone knows, passports never lie. Before coming to New York City, he worked as a stand-up comedian around the UK, entertaining and irritating audiences in equal measure for many years and regularly took shows to the prestigious Edinburgh Festival. When “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” came knocking at his door in 2006, Oliver flung it open and jumped into its arms with a relish which made all parties slightly uncomfortable. He is very pleased to have come to ply his trade in this country and, to be honest, he had all but burnt his bridges in his own.
