NEW YORK, August 9, 2010 – It would be wrong for Doug Benson to take the Hippocratic Oath – he kills on his new COMEDY CENTRAL Records release “Hypocritical Oaf.” The CD/DVD combo will be released on August 31.
Recorded live on April 20 at the Acme Comedy Company in Minneapolis, Benson’s sophomore release on COMEDY CENTRAL Records comes with a bonus DVD including full, uncensored versions of his two “COMEDY CENTRAL Presents” half-hour specials.
Though he is sometimes “too trunk to dweet,” Benson has amassed over 70,000 followers on Twitter with lines including “I have HIV. But don’t worry, I still get to draw four more scrabble tiles.” Don’t be fooled by his laid-back delivery – Benson is as sharp as comics come and his jokes appeal to smokers and non-smokers alike. Covering everything from the importance of time-saving abbreviations such as “deets” to his 2010 “Pot The Vote” tour in California, the former “Marijuana-Logues” star gets audiences high on laughs.
Benson’s credits include the documentary “Super High Me,” based on a joke from his stand-up act. He has starred in two half-hour COMEDY CENTRAL Presents” specials, was a character on “The Sarah Silverman Program” and his first CD “Unbalanced Load” was released on COMEDY CENTRAL Records in August of 2009. He was also a finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and a series regular on four seasons of VH-1’s “Best Week Ever.” Benson had the nerve to hit on Jennifer Aniston on the classic sitcom “Friends,” got Larry David in a headlock on HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and makes regular appearances on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” He is also creator/writer/star of “The Marijuana-Logues,” a show that’s been a hit in clubs and theatres from Los Angeles to New York – and drew a bongload of rave reviews. Now there’s a “The Marijuana-Logues” CD and a book, The Marijuana-Logues: Everything About Pot That We Could Remember. In 2006, High Times Magazine named him Stoner of the Year and in 2009, he successfully made it to all the shows in his thirteen-day “Medical Marijuana Tour.” Benson continues to express his love of movies on his “Doug Loves Movies” podcasts (available on iTunes).
Previously-released recordings by COMEDY CENTRAL Records include: Kevin Hart’s “Seriously Funny,” Lewis Black’s “Stark Raving Black,” “The “Sarah Silverman Prgoram Soundtrak Album,” George Lopez” “Tall Dark and Chicano,” Greg Giraldo’s “Midlife Vices, Nick Swardson’s “Seriously, Who Farted,” Doug Benson’s “Unbalanced Load,” Dane Cook’s “ISolated INcident,” Cook’s platinum-selling “Harmful If Swallowed” and double-platinum “Retaliation,” Mitch Hedberg’s “Do You Believe in Gosh,” Grammy Award-winning “Lewis Black: The Carnegie Hall Performance,” Grammy Award-nominees’ Steven Wright’s “I Still Have A Pony” and George Lopez’s “America’s Mexican,” among others.
