NEW YORK, December 4, 2012 – Dan Yang has been promoted to Executive Vice President Strategy and Business Development, it was announced by John Cucci, Chief Operating Officer for the Viacom Entertainment Group. Yang is based in New York and reports to Cucci.
Yang oversees strategic planning, operational initiatives, partnerships, and investments across the group’s assets which include COMEDY CENTRAL, Spike TV and TV Land, and represents the group on joint ventures. In addition, he is the General Manager of 345 Games, the group’s video game publishing arm as well as its digital download-to-own business.
“Dan has made significant contributions to our business over the past five years. His business acumen has enabled the group to operate more effectively and unlock new sources of revenue. We’re lucky to have him on our team,” said Cucci.
Yang joined Viacom in 2004, where he served as Vice President of Operations for Program Enterprises within the Music Group. In 2007, he moved to the Entertainment Group as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development. Among other accomplishments, he led the formation and launch of the South Park Digital Studios Joint Venture, played a key role in developing the TV Land original programming business strategy and was instrumental in Viacom’s investment in Bellator Fighting Championships.
Prior to joining Viacom, Yang was a management consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton in their media and telecommunications practice. He holds an MBA from MIT and a BA from University of California, Berkeley. He resides in Manhattan with his wife and son.
