NEW YORK, June 10, 2013 – Christian McLaughlin has been named Vice President of Specials for COMEDY CENTRAL, it was announced by Jonas Larsen, Senior Vice President, Talent and Specials, to whom he reports. McLaughlin is based in the network’s New York offices.
McLaughlin works on the current slate of specials, stand-up series and events, as well as spearheading the development efforts for the department in New York.
“Christian’s tireless commitment to producing great programming, coupled with his bold approach to development as well as his experience working with talent made him the perfect fit for the job” said Larsen. “That, and of course his uncanny resemblance to Nick Kroll.”
McLaughlin came to COMEDY CENTRAL from Bravo, where he worked as Vice President, Production since 2010 overseeing a number of reality series including “Flipping Out” seasons 5 and 6, and “Chef Roble and Co.” season 1, among others. He was also an Executive on Bravo’s nightly live talk show, “Watch What Happens Live.”
Before Bravo, McLaughlin worked as an Executive Producer in Development and Production at VH1. He oversaw the development and production of a variety of pilots and series including “Love and Hip Hop” season 1, “Ego Trip’s: The White Rapper Show,” “Miss Rap Supreme,” and “Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp” season 7.
Prior to joining VH1, McLaughlin served as Supervising Producer on Howard Stern’s syndicated Saturday night televsion show, “The Howard Stern Radio Show.” He also did producing stints on “Live with Regis and Kelly” and “The Caroline Rhea Show.” McLaughlin began his career in New York City in local news at WNBC as a writer, producer and director in on-air promotion where he was the recipient of 5 NY EMMY® awards, a Promax gold award and a Writers Guild of America award.
McLaughlin holds a BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
