NEW YORK, January 5, 2010 – OMG! COMEDY CENTRAL is about to LOL with Arj Barker when the World Television Premiere of “Arj Barker: LYAO” debuts Saturday, January 23 at 11:00 p.m.

COMEDY CENTRAL brings the hilarious “Flight of the Conchords” star to the stage to poke fun at controversial topics ranging from global warming to losing Pluto as a planet. All the cool kids know that LYAO is Web-speak for “Laugh Your Ass Off” and that’s just what viewers will do while watching Arj Barker in this brand-new, one-hour stand-up special debuting Saturday, January 23 on COMEDY CENTRAL.

Best known for his humorous observations on the most mundane occurrences, Barker began his stand-up career on a dare. After immediately falling in love with it, Barker dropped out of college and hit the road. Within a few years he was regularly headlining clubs all over the world and has appeared on “COMEDY CENTRAL Presents,” “Premium Blend,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” In 1997, he won the Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He appeared in season 5 of “Last Comic Standing,” and was a semifinalist. From there, Barker, along with Doug Benson and Tony Camin, co-wrote and starred in “The Marijuana-Logues,” an off-Broadway show. Most recently, Barker starred as “Dave” on the critically-acclaimed HBO series, “Flight of the Conchords.”
