NEW YORK, October 31, 2013 – Steve Rannazzisi (“The League”) is bringing his stand-up to Comedy Central and on the road with the world premiere of “Steve Rannazzisi: Manchild,” a one-hour stand-up special debuting on Saturday, November 16 at midnight ET/PT. The Comedy Central Live national tour, “Steve Rannazzisi: Manchild the Tour,” launches on Thursday, November 14.
In his first one-hour stand-up special, Rannazzisi jumps right in with his take on air travel, flying while high, moving in together, and the responsibility that comes with ordering a pizza. Recorded in front of a live audience at The Civic Theatre in New Orleans, Rannazzisi covers the joys of parenting – the not-quite miraculous experience of birth, the difference between raising boys and raising girls, and the time the babysitter quit, which hereafter is referred to as “the incident” in the Rannazzisi household.
Beginning November 19, an extended and uncensored cut of the stand-up special, featuring material not seen in the Comedy Central premiere, will be available for $5 on CC: Stand-Up Direct, as well as on iTunes, Xbox Video, Amazon Instant Video, Sony Entertainment Network, Vudu, Vdio and Target. Comedy Central Records will release “Steve Rannazzisi: Manchild” as an extended and uncensored digital album the same day.
“Steve Rannazzisi: Manchild the Tour,” a nationwide stand-up tour which kicks off on November 14 in Indianapolis, is the first Comedy Central Live event to feature numerous dates from its new “Comedy Central Certified Club” program. For tour info and links to purchase tickets, go to www.cc.com/comedy-tours or www.steverannazzisi.com.
Rannazzisi also will be featured in two upcoming projects from CC:Studios. The first will feature a select segment from “Manchild” with a special animated twist by Titmouse. In the second season of “This is Not Happening,” premiering on CC:Studios on January 21, Rannazzisi moderates Shaffir and Bobby Lee in an epic telling of their fight at The Comedy Store, with a special appearance by Natasha Leggero.
Leading up to the on-air premiere, the Comedy Central Stand-Up Web site and Rannazzisi’s comedian page at cc.com/manchild will feature preview clips from the special and Rannazzisi will also engage with Comedy Central fans via an “Ask a Professional Comedian” live event on CC Tumblr. Fans can follow him at @steverannassizi, and should use the hashtag #manchild when tweeting about the special.
Rannazzisi is best known for his role as “Kevin” the League Commissioner on FXX’s hit show “The League.” He is an alumnus of the famed Groundlings School and Comedy Troupe and the world-famous Comedy Store, which led to a spot on Ashton Kutcher’s hidden camera show “Punk’d.”
Since then Rannazzisi has continued to make audiences laugh in television and feature films and on comedy stages across the country. After his success on “Punk’d,” he was made a series regular as the soon-to-be best man on ABC’s “Big Day” alongside Marla Sokoloff, and later appeared as a lead opposite Heather Locklear in ABC’s “See Jayne Run.” His additional past credits include spots on “Samantha Who,” “Kitchen Confidential,” HBO’s “Sex and the City,” NBC’s “Third Watch” and Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend.” Rannazzisi has appeared in the feature films “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” “Imagine That,” “Summer of Sam,” and “For Your Consideration,” and is currently starring in the second season of his Web series “Daddy Knows Best.”
“Steve Rannazzisi: Manchild” is executive produced by Rannazzisi, Geoff Cheddy and John Irwin, and directed by Ryan Polito. Anne Harris is the Executive in Charge for Comedy Central.
