NEW YORK, February 14, 2017 – Kurt Braunohler is tall, white and has the look of a friendly camp counselor. Learn why that’s no reason to trust him in “Kurt Braunohler: Trust Me,” premiering with limited commercial interruption on Friday, March 3 at Midnight ET/PT on Comedy Central.
In his first one-hour special, Braunohler seeks to undermine the authority unfairly assigned to white male speakers, expertly delivering self-deprecating stories of loathing and haplessness. It may not be in his own best interests, but Braunohler wants viewers to know all about how he used his girlfriend’s worst fear to propose to her, reunited unexpectedly with a woman he terrified with ventriloquism for a reality TV show, and accidently/on purpose valued a $20 cover charge over several human lives at an Australian strip club. Tall and harmless-looking, sure. Trustworthy? Your call.
Leading up to the on-air premiere, Comedy Central Stand-Up and cc.com/kurt will feature preview clips from the special. Clips from “Trust Me” will also be available in the CC app and the Comedy Central channel on Snapchat Discover. Fans can follow Comedy Central Stand-Up at @standup, and tweet using the hashtag #TrustMe to join the social conversation around the special.
“Kurt Braunohler: Trust Me” will be available on Saturday, March 4 on cc.com and in the Comedy Central App. The extended and uncensored album released by Comedy Central Records, home to the biggest names in stand-up, will be available for digital download on Tuesday, March 7. The album and special will be available for pre-order on iTunes on February 21.
Braunohler was featured in Variety’s annual prestigious “10 Comics To Watch” list, named in Time Out New York‘s list of “50 Funniest New Yorkers” and has performed stand-up sets on “Conan,” “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” “The Late Show with Seth Meyers” and “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” Braunohler appears in and was an on-set writer for the Judd Apatow produced film “The Big Sick” which was Sundance’s most buzzed about comedy. On TV, Braunohler has been seen (or heard) on “Bob’s Burgers,” “New Girl,” “@midnight with Chris Hardwick,” “Another Period,” “Drunk History,” “Deadbeat,” “Comedy Central Presents,” “Adam Ruins Everything,” “Chelsea Lately,” and “Delocated,” and was host of IFC’s comedy game show “Bunk!” He co-hosts the weekly comedy variety show “Hot Tub” alongside his comedy partner Kristen Schaal at The Virgil in LA. Braunohler has also been heard on the radio on This American Life telling a story that he is currently developing for film.
“Kurt Braunohler: Trust Me” is executive produced by Braunohler, Michelle Caputo, Shannon Hartman, David Martin and Kelly Van Valkenburg. Anne Harris is the Executive in Charge for Comedy Central.
