NEW YORK, December 6, 2018 – Comedy Central and Chris Distefano have entered into a comprehensive overall deal with exclusive on- and off-camera services and a first look at content created/developed for any platform, it was announced today by Sarah Babineau and Jonas Larsen, Executive Vice Presidents and Co-Heads of Talent and Development, Comedy Central.
The deal encompasses a number of projects already in development, including an all-new one-hour stand-up special, an animated series, an unscripted series, and the continuation of Comedy Central’s Friday night interstitial series Stupid Questions with Chris Distefano.
“Chris strikes the perfect balance of Brooklyn-born edge and nice-guy charm,” said Babineau and Larsen. “He’s razor-sharp, magnetic, and relatable — key to success on all platforms — so we couldn’t be more excited to enter into this deal with him.”
“I couldn’t be happier and more excited to be working with Comedy Central! They are truly like family to me,” said Distefano. “I am honored at the opportunity they’ve given me and I can’t wait to bring these new projects to life! #ChrissyCentral.”
External to the deal, forthcoming Distefano/Comedy Central projects already in development include a weekly podcast greenlit straight to series — expanding Comedy Central’s Global Podcast Network — and the all-new one-hour stand-up special Chris Distefano: Size 38 Waist, which premieres January 18 at 11:00p.m. ET/PT as part of Comedy Central’s Stand-Up Month (previously announced). Distefano is also a popular guest on Comedy Central’s topical Friday-night stand-up series This Week at the Comedy Cellar, which airs at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
Premiere dates and details about projects in development under the terms of the overall deal will be announced at a later date.
